Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) is one of France’s largest public university hospital systems and the first public healthcare institution in France and the European Union authorized by the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM) to manufacture therapeutic bacteriophages under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards for human use.
The authorization enables HCL to manufacture Production Intermediates (IP) and Pharmaceutical Starting Materials (MPUP) intended for therapeutic bacteriophage production, providing regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity within a public hospital environment.
